This advanced undergraduate course develops architectural space-making through the coordinated design of multiple responsive architectural components within a single bounded architectural space. Building directly on Elective II’s focus on cybernetic regulation at the artifact scale, the course advances toward integration and coordination, examining how responsive components operate together to produce coherent spatial behavior, legible transitions, and measurable performance. Architecture is approached as a spatial composition of interacting components rather than as a fully autonomous system. Principles of embodied interaction are introduced to frame how sensing, response, and adaptation are embedded seamlessly within architectural space and everyday use. Emphasis is placed on spatial hierarchy, sequencing, thresholds, and environmental modulation, ensuring that responsive behavior remains architecturally intelligible, controllable, and experientially grounded.
