 Innovations in Environmental Remediation and Energy

LST 422 is an advanced elective course offered to life science students from both tracks. It explores technological advancements in environmental remediation and energy-related applications, with emphasis on the fundamentals, applications, and emerging innovations that support sustainable solutions for environmental challenges. The course covers existing and emerging technologies for the remediation of water, air, and soil, as well as technologies for sustainable energy production. Students will examine the scientific principles underlying these technologies and evaluate their effectiveness, sustainability, and practical applications. A key focus of the course is to bridge fundamental research with real-world applications by introducing students to technological innovations, remediation strategies, practical techniques, real case studies, and established best practices.
