General Department Information

Welcome to the Department of Biostatistics, Epidemiology, and Public Health at Alfaisal University. The department is active in three main overlapping areas: 1) education, 2) research, and 3) community service. The department supports undergraduate and graduate programs at the College of Medicine (COM). We offer courses in biostatistics, epidemiology, and evidence-based medicine in support of the Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) program. Some of these courses are known as basic sciences in public health. In addition, the department offers a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree. The MPH Program has three concentrations which include mass gatherings health (hajj and umrah), biostatistics and epidemiology, and health policy.

We provide a stimulating environment for faculty and students to contribute to the improvement of medicine and public health. The department encourages the faculty to adopt teaching strategies to promote critical thinking. We train students to critically evaluate medical literature and to conduct medical research to become leaders in clinical research and health policy research. To enhance students' learning experience, the department hosts various seminars and special events in collaboration with public and private national and international health agencies and institutions.
