General Department Information

Welcome to the Department of Microbiology and Immunology at the College of Medicine, Alfaisal University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Our curriculum uses an integrated, clinically oriented approach to teach students the basic and applied aspects of infectious diseases and host defense mechanisms in the pre-clerkship and clerkship phases.

Within Alfaisal University, we have the opportunity to support and train the next generation of scientists by teaching general microbiology and immunology to undergraduates at Alfaisal University’s College of Science. We are also expanding our contribution to postgraduate training at Alfaisal University. Since September 2014, we began a Graduate Program in infection control and prevention.

The department is actively engaged in research by utilizing innovative approaches which stimulates critical thinking and promotes the development of life-long learning skills. Together these will help in fighting infectious pathogens, which remain a significant cause of human disease, and the study of defective or excessive immunity, which is a cause of many other disorders, including cancer, autoimmune disease, and allergic disease.
