University Writing is a skills-based, writing-intensive course that develops students’ abilities to organize, visualize, and compose effective texts. The course introduces the writing process and develops students’ understanding and use of academic rhetorical moves, grammatical structures, and organizational strategies across a variety of academic genres. Students explore and analyze how language is used to achieve common communicative goals in academic writing through lectures, in-class writing activities, and guided assignments. The course also includes a multimedia project tailored to students’ academic majors, allowing them to apply their writing and communication skills in a discipline-specific context.
