Grading System

The proposed grading system is aligned with Ministry of Education guidelines and similar to government Universities like King Saud University, Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud Islamic University, and many other Universities inside Saudi Arabia. The new proposed grading system does not include minus letter grades.

GPA calculations at Alfaisal University will be computed on the 4-point system as explained in the table below:

All grades (A, A-, B+, B, B-, C+, C, C-, D+, D, F, DN) are included in grade-point average calculation. Other grades (W, WP, P, NP, AU, I, CR, R, CC, DN, S/U, NC) may be used in certain situations, but are not included in the determination of the grade point average.

Alfaisal University Up-to-date Grading System - Effective Fall 2025–26

• These grades are applicable on All Alfaisal University active students in All Levels (UPP, bachelor’s degree, higher diploma, master’s degree, PhD)
•  A faculty member will start using this grading system on Banner Faculty Self-Service and on Alfaisal e-forms portal (for grade changes)
• For the following degrees/levels, grade “D+” and “D” are not applicable:

1. higher diplomas
2. master’s degrees
3. PhD

GRADUATION GENERAL GRADE

- Excellent: GPA 3.500 – 4.000

- Very Good: GPA 2.750 – 3.499

- Good: GPA 1.750 – 2.749

- Pass: GPA 1.000 – 1.749

GRADUATION HONOR AWRDED **

- First Honor: GPA 3.750 – 4.000

- Second Honor: GPA 3.250 – 3.749

** A student must not have a grade “F” or “DN” on the transcript upon graduation.
