Fine Art Fundamentals is a dynamic, learning-by-doing course that introduces students to the core languages and creative processes that shape contemporary Art and Design.
Lectures and hands-on painting and sculpture exercises establish historical awareness as students explore how artists use line, shape, value, color, texture, space, and form to communicate ideas and create meaningful visual experiences.
This course encourages students to experiment boldly, think aesthetically, and develop creative personal techniques
while working with a wide range of materials — including drawing, collage, paint, and 3D relief. The course emphasizes process, exploration, and creative decision-making, enabling students to experience Art as both an expressive and intellectual activity.
This course is ideal for university students from any discipline who want to strengthen their creativity, enhance visual communication skills, or experience the joy of studio work in an inspiring environment.
Students will learn to understand Art by adopting a hands-on approach to the following styles: Impressionism, Expressionism, Abstraction, Minimalism, and Abstract Expressionism.
Abstract thinking in Art paves the way for conceptual thinking in other disciplines.
In the first 8 weeks of the course, the students explore becoming painters themselves. After the midterm break, they reinvent themselves as sculptors.
