HIS 101: Islamic Civilization and Mediaeval Europe
Examines the foundations, development, and achievements of Islamic civilization and its interactions with medieval Europe. The course explores major areas of intellectual and cultural exchange, including the transmission and translation of knowledge in science, medicine, philosophy, literature, and the arts. Particular attention is given to the historical channels of contact between Muslim societies and Europe and the contribution of Islamic civilization to the development of European intellectual and cultural traditions.
